A classic .22 long rifle round that every older shooter can remember, this Remington Yellow Jacket has been around for as long as most of us can remember. A testament to the power of the brand name, its values and the quality of the components that Remington has been producing for decades; the marker of success in these areas being the longevity of the round.
This is also about as plain vanilla a round as you will find, with the moderate to hot load (Remington alluding to Hyper Velocity), the mild recoil and the medium grain weight. This is a mainstay in the Remington ammunition line, and is especially well received by tube fed and bolt action and single shot rifles. It can tend to be a bit fussy with oddball spring tensions in some of the modern semi-autos but has always performed reliably in the old classic rimfire rifles and many of the pistols. It is a very good cartridge for .22LR revolvers. The accuracy isn’t as good as you can find with the newer match ammunition, but the price point isn’t the same either. As far as .22LR hunting goes, this is a great choice with the good velocity (1500 fps) and the 165 ft. lbs. of energy at the muzzle.
